A Message From Sir Isaac Newton

Dear Students,

       My name is Sir Isaac Newton, you may have heard of me. (I am the scientist who had the apple drop on my head!)  I developed three laws of motion that have helped many different workfields grow and develop. The three Laws of Motion are:

        1.     * An object at rest will stay at rest unless acted on by a force.
               * An object moving in a straight line will continue to move in a straight life unless acted on by another force.
               * The first law of motion is also called the law aof Inertia.

        2.    * How fast an object moves after it is pushed depends on the force of the push and the mass of the object.
               * Force = mass X acceleration
                        F = ma

        3.    * For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

I know you have spent some time to talking and learning about these laws. With the new age of technology and the internet there are many opportunities for exploring the laws of motion.
I have done research to find websites where you can explore my laws of motion. I challenge you to find three ways in which the laws of motion play a factor in your everyday life. After you have discovered these ways make a poster, cartoon, piece of writing, or another creative way of showing the way the laws of motion impact your life. Make sure to visit all of the websites and search the key words in a search engine (such as Google or Yahoo) to find more information. HAVE FUN and BE CREATIVE with your project!

You need to make sure your product:

Correctly identifies the 3 Laws of motion (10 points)

Includes accurate examples of the 3 Laws of motion (10 points)

Use physic terms correctly: force, motion, acceleration, mass, momentum (5 points)

Be creative and relate to YOUR life (not your neighbor's life) (5 points)

Remeber, "No discovery was ever made without a bold guess."

Sincerely Your Friend,
Sir Isaac Newton
