7th Grade Math

The course is broken into 9 main units. Within the units, we will be working on problem solving skills, critical thinking, and mathematical reasoning. The students will be taking notes, applying mathematical concepts to the real world, explaining their thinking, solving complex problems and creating projects. Each unit will have a pre-test to find out what they know and a post-test to assess what they learned.

We will be doing a wide variety of activities in order for the students to understand the concepts and connect them to their world.  Some examples of these activities are:

  • Notes
  • Spiral Review
  • Pre- and Post- Unit Tests
  • Sample Problems
  • CGI Problems
  • Small Group Instruction
  • Whole Group Instruction
  • Demonstrations
  • Projects: Group & Individual
  • Computer-based Activities
  • GOBR Problems: "Get Our Brains Ready"
  • Math Centers
  • Enrichment

The units are based on the Common Core Standards however, standards that were moved to another grade level or removed have been included in the unit design.  I want to make sure the students will have all the concepts needed to be successful on the AIMS assessment.
